San Jose State’s Strong Y Off Formation – College Football 26

The San Jose State Run and Shoot playbook is one of the more diverse schemes in College Football 26. It’s a Run and Shoot offense at heart but also has a mix of Air Raid and Veer and Shoot too. It also has a few Pro Style looks. One of those formations is Strong Y Off, the only playbook in the game that has it.

Strong formations are like I-formations but with the fullback offset to the tight end side of the line. “Y Off” means the tight end is off the line which puts the Z receiver on the line.

It’s run game consists of three Zone concepts:

  • Blunt Dive to attack the A gap
  • HB Stretch to attack the C gap
  • RPO Zone Alert Smoke is Inside Split hat attacks the B gap with a backside WR alert

The two play actions are Slide concepts to the left. The last four pass plays cover all the main dropback passing concepts:

  • Quick Slants (Quick)
  • Curl Combo (Medium)
  • 866 Hook (Deep)
  • FB Middle (Deep)

It feels like everything is covered in this formation for it to only have nine plays. This playbook is diverse enough that there’s no reason not to use this set to stick with that theme.
