I covered Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay’s offenses extensively for College Football 26. It won’t hurt to see if anything changed in College Football 27 as I was recently asked about this.
I think you can’t go wrong with either the Iowa or Pro Style playbooks to mimic what Shanahan likes to do. Both have plenty of outside runs, especially Outside Zone, as this is your base of the scheme. However, it might come down to if you must have I Form Pro in your playbook. Iowa doesn’t have it, Pro Style does, but both have enough similar formations to give you the same look and feel of his scheme.
I think the Washington playbook works best for McVay as it’s loaded with Singleback formations and Jet Sweeps. The intersting part is it too has I Form Pro and since McVay worked for Shanahan before doing his own thing, you could consider the Washington playbook good enough for Shanahan’s offense. Regarding North Dakota State from the original question, I think you can get close to either scheme with this one although this playbook is the best when it comes to using Shift plays.
